The representatives of the Sewage Company of Lübeck (Entsorgungsbetriebe Lübeck, EBL) and the Union of Baltic Cities Commission of Environment (UBC EnvCom) have visited the Water and Sewage company (Zakład Wodociągów i Kanalizacji, ZWiK) of Szczecin on the 28th of August 2012. ZWiK offered the rare opportunity viewing a very modern Pomorzany WWTP on which the sludge handling leads to a combined and mainly self-sufficient process of drying and incineration.

To facilitate the experience exchange EBL reinvited the operators from ZWiK Szczecin to the Lübeck WWTP in the beginning of October.

The meeting took place on the 5th of October 2012. Apart from the sludge handling matters, also other items were discussed intensely, such as nutrient removal, especially by the use of a Biofiltration, storm water handling, organisational structures, personal qualifications, etc.

Carrying out these meetings, ZWiK and EBL intended to contribute to enhancing the good cooperation and contact between PURE partners, which should last beyond the end of the PURE project itself. Both sides have also confirmed their general interest in future short-term series of workers and apprentices exchanges.
